To better secure your account, we require all employees to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for their CUNE Microsoft account. We highly recommend you setup the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone to verify logins.
-
1. Go to aka.ms/mfasetup and sign in with your CUNE email
-
Click Next
-
If you prefer using the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app, then go to your app store on your phone and download the Microsoft Authenticator app.
You will be brought to the security verification page. First, choose how you would like to be notified when an MFA request is needed. If you don’t want to use the Authenticator app, you may skip to step 9 in this article.
Note: If you plan to use our VPN for remote access you must choose either the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app or "Phone" and then the "Call me" option. -
Open the app and select the Scan a QR code option. If prompted to allow Authenticator to send you notifications, do so. Use the camera that opens to scan the QR code that comes up on your computer. You may need to grant the app camera access
-
Enter the two-digit code that comes up on your computer into the app (your code may be different).
-
If you have entered the code correctly you will see the following screen:
-
You have successfully added Microsoft Authenticator as a MFA method to your account and can use it any time you need to sign in.
-
If you want to use your phone number as a MFA method, select I want to set up a different method to open the following menu:
-
Select Phone and enter your phone number on the next screen and select to receive a text or a call.
-
If you choose, "Text me a code" you will receive a six digit code to enter on the next page to verify your phone number. Alternatively if you choose, "Call me" you will receive a phone call and will be prompted to press '#' to verify your phone number. Once the verification is complete you will see a page similar to this:
- You have successfully added your phone number as a MFA method for your account and can use it any time you need to sign in.
