A Media Access Control (MAC) address is a unique identifier used to identify the device connecting to a network. (It has nothing to do with the Apple corporation.) Concordia uses this address to register devices for our internet access. It may also be known as Wi-Fi address, Ethernet address, or hardware address.

A device may have multiple MAC addresses - one for each network connection or type (wired/Ethernet, wireless/Wi-Fi, etc). Each address being used should be registered. If you don't plan to connect with a wire, you only need to register the wireless address.

Example: If you use wireless on your laptop in class, and wired in your dorm room or office, both addresses need to be registered separately.

Note: For items like consoles, streaming devices, and TVs, the best resource to find the MAC address is the manufacturer's website. You can typically find it listed under network settings or the about section.
