Sometimes you want to keep a file available in two places, so different audiences or circumstances can access it easily. These steps will show you how to create a shortcut from a file in one location of Teams or OneDrive to another location in Teams.


  1. Begin by access the Files tab of the destination for the shortcut
  2. Click the New + button
  3. Select Link from the menu
  4. A textbox and list of recent items appear
  5. If the desired document appears in the scrollable list, click on it to create the shortcut
  6. If the desired document does not appear, obtain a copy of the file share URL and paste it into the textbox
  7. Name the shortcut
  8. Click Create
  9. After a few seconds, the shortcut will appear
