Securely Share a File with OneDrive
To securely share an item with OneDrive:
- Make sure the file/folder is saved in your CUNE OneDrive (do not use a personal OneDrive account)
- Right click the file and select Share
- Click the settings gear next to the copy link button
- Set "Share the link with" to People you choose
- Set the permissions under "More settings" to Can view
- Click Apply

- Fill in the email addresses that you want to share the file with
- Click Send or click Copy link and paste the link into an email to the recipient(s).

It is a good idea to verify that the recipient(s) have downloaded a copy and then remove the sharing permissions from the file.
- Right click on the shared file/folder and select Manage access
- To remove all sharing:
- Click Stop sharing
- Click Stop sharing in the confirmation popup
- To remove a specific user's access:
- Click on the user you want to remove access from
- Click the "Direct Access: ..." drop down menu
- Click the Drop down menu and select "Remove direct access"
- Click Remove in the confirmation popup
You can share files with external email addresses. However, you should be very careful of who may have access to those files, as we have no visibility into the external account and if it might be compromised. When sharing files with external users/emails, it is best to always set an expiration date for the sharing link.
