When a course section has reached its maximum enrollment limit, the waitlist option may become available during the registration period.
How the Waitlist operates:
- You attempt to register for a class that is at capacity.
- You receive a closed course message, with a note that the waitlist is available. (CLOSED-WAITLIST)
- You may then change your registration status to either “DROP” (DW) to decline, or “WAITLIST” (WL) to be placed on the waitlist.
- When a seat becomes available to you, you will receive an email notification at your Concordia student email address.
- The email will contain a registration window of time in which you must register for that class.
- The waitlist feature will not automatically register you in the class. You must take action in order to register in Banner. You must log in and change the registration status from “WAITLISTED” to “WEB REGISTERED” for the class.
- If you do not register for the class within your designated registration window, you are no longer on the waitlist. Your only option will be to DROP your waitlist registration. The next person on the waitlist will be emailed.
- If you no longer wish to be on a waitlist or find a seat in a different section, please go into Banner to DROP the waitlisted section so the next student in line can be accommodated more quickly.
Please Note:
- For improved user experience, you are encouraged to register using Self-Service 9.
- Most courses will have waitlists.
- Waitlisting is on a first come, first serve basis.
- The system will not allow you to waitlist multiple sections of the same course.
- The system will not override time conflicts with another course.
- You will only be able to waitlist for courses in which you meet all the prerequisite and registration restriction requirements.
- Being on a waitlist does not guarantee registration for the course. We recommend you register for an alternate class in case the course does not become available to you.
